First of all, thank you for your kind words and book suggestions from last week’s newsie! It was a THRILL to realize so many of you are DOING THE WORK. Even when it feels especially like work. We now have a lovely list of book recommendations from you, our elevated friends, which will give us the immediate dopamine hit of a book purchase and then that long-lasting hit of ☀️ self-improvement.☀️ It feels trite to realize it, but one of the biggest secrets of life is falling in love… with YOURSELF. If you’re a person who has come to love yourself, was there a defining moment? We’d (seriously) love to hear meet-cute moments of you + you. It’s now FEBRUARY!! Or, as we’ve named it, FEBU-BURY! (Like a treasure-hunt bury vibes. Not grave bury vibes. Unless you want those vibes, then flarpin’ go for it, you angel of darkness.) We are SO glad to say goodbye to JANUARY (she had BIG “Jan” energy. Sure, Jan) who was the lil’ month from hell. And while February cannot offer IMMEDIATE salvation from the (our throats begin to tighten) erm… terrifyingstateofabsolutelyeverything…. it can at LEAST not be January. And we’ve got SO much wonderful entertainment coming to the theater we’re just so happy to share with you.
Speaking of sharing entertainment, Saturday we put on a Dynasty Tonight! that rang February in right. How right? It featured some of our favorite comics, some unhinged give-aways, a moment where an unknown (to us) elementary school teacher launched a necessary coup; taking the stage, mic, and CONTROL over a group rock-paper-scissors game that was careening into chaos (thank you Susie! Teachers are the best people on the planet), the medium who did a reading for our Dynasty full time staff was in attendance and ON something (including, eventually, the stage), AND the Dynasty Debut of Jamie’s nephew DAILEY SCHNIEDERMAN. He had the special honor of being the first 13 year old ever on Dynasty Tonight! AND the first comic to get a standing ovation in the middle of the show! If anyone from the prestigious arts high school he’s trying to get into is reading this, “Dailey Schniederman is a precocious talent on the scene. His work touches on mental health and finds joy and connection in the awkward moments of adolescence that speak to ALL ages.” If anyone from his OLD school is reading this, suck scissors, turd bags! Jamie is thrilled to offer someone the opportunity of being a nepo-baby. His immigrant ancestors would’ve loved this.

A one-person improv show disguised as an acting class, from the creator of the “Dead Eyes” podcast. Professional actor (MEAN GIRLS 2024, GHOSTS, BOB'S BURGERS) and award-winning podcaster CONNOR RATLIFF is a classically trained performer who graduated "with honours" from the prestigious Liverpool Institute For Performing Arts over a quarter of a century ago, making his professional debut on the stage of the Royal Court Theatre in London’s West End. During that same year, he also performed at Buckingham Palace for QUEEN ELIZABETH II. In the decades that followed, he has accumulated numerous credits as a star of stage, screen, and stream, appearing in multiple Netflix Original Films as well as content on CBS, NBC, FOX, TBS, Home Box Office, Amazon Prime, and the now-defunct comedy platforms, Go90 and Seeso.
But none of that matters now.
What matters now is CONNOR RATLIFF presents THE ACTING CLASS, an unending series of feature-length workshop performances where he will, before your very eyes, demonstrate what acting truly IS.
Each performance will be slightly interactive and completely improvised, with occasional opportunities for students in attendance to ask questions.

Comedian Connor Ratliff ("Dead Eyes", "The Marvelous Mrs Maisel") appears as George Lucas, the creator of Star Wars, and interviews guests like a "normal talk show". He is joined by sidekick Watto, played by Griffin Newman ("Blank Check", "The Tick"), and show producer Patrick Cotnoir. The show has been running since 2014 and was a regular show at the UCB Theatre in New York City for years. It has been streaming on Twitch since 2020.

Last summer’s life-or-death smash is returning with a brand-new life-or-death adventure!
Oh, and spoiler alert: We survived the first one.
In the 1980s’ Golden Age of daytime television, back when MICHAEL AUSIELLO was but a closeted gay teen doing his damnedest to get by in small-town New Jersey, he penned 517 episodes of a soap opera called Beverly Hills. (Yes, before anyone knew that 90210 was its zip code!)
Miraculously, the future founder of TVLINE saved every handwritten script. (See also: Hoarders, Season 2.) Now, four decades later, some of the biggest names in comedy will come together — back together, in a few cases — to perform a 60-minute reading of a self-contained story arc.
What’s this one about? No less than a deadly Russian circus that comes to town and ends up serving as a backdrop for romance, murder, mayhem, and the most jaw-dropping feats of trapeze artistry this side of Cirque du Soleil!
And yes. If you were wondering, although some of Teenage MICHAEL'S atrocious spelling has been cleaned up for this theatrical experience — you’re welcome — the scenes will be performed exactly as they were written nearly 40 years ago. For better and worse.

When most people think of the Muppets, they think of the colorful characters made out of fleece and foam. But as with every movie, it all starts on the written page. Jim Henson's team of writers began with JERRY JUHL, and he was joined by JACK BURNS in penning the script for THE MUPPET MOVIE. When mixed with the soundtrack by PAUL WILLIAMS and KENNY ASCHER, it has become a well-loved classic.

National nonprofit GiveDirectly focuses on transferring cash directly to the world’s poorest people, as well as refugees, urban youth, and disaster victims, and they have the technological tools and connections to help.
The goal of this fundraiser is to add to this wonderful organization's amazing efforts that are already taking place. They are running a fundraising campaign specifically for low-income survivors of the Los Angeles wildfires, and have received over $478,000 in donations out of their $1 million goal. By partnering with food stamps management app Propel to target people in need, as well as groups on the ground, GiveDirectly is planning to give around $3,000 to $4,000 per family, said TYLER HALL, senior director of communications for GiveDirectly.

THE HOST: CHRIS DUFFY is a comedian, television writer, and radio/podcast host. CHRIS currently hosts TED’s hit podcast How to Be a Better Human. He has appeared on Good Morning America, ABC News, NPR, and National Geographic Explorer. CHRIS wrote for both seasons of Wyatt Cenac's Problem Areas on HBO, executive produced by John Oliver. He’s the creator/host of the streaming game show Wrong Answers Only, where three comedians try to guess what a leading scientist does all day, in partnership with LabX at the National Academy of Sciences. The EXPERT: PAUL EASTWICK is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at UC Davis where he runs the Attraction and Relationships Research Laboratory. PAUL studies how people initiate romantic relationships and the psychological mechanisms that help romantic partners to remain committed and attached.
